100 Quarters of Hope Fundraiser

Monday, June 8th, 2009

Dear Friends of Bishops Basketball,

We wanted to take a moment and let you know of an outstanding opportunity for our basketball program in the 2009-10 Season. We have been invited to participate in a game at Madison Square Garden as part of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. The dates of the tournament are Nov, 19-20, 2009. We will play our game prior to one of the semi-final college games. The college teams featured this year in the Classic are North Carolina, Syracuse, Ohio State, and California. We feel this presents a tremendous opportunity for our students. In addition to playing our game we will make this an educational and spiritual journey as well. We plan to visit a local children’s hospital in NYC as well as attend Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. In addition, we plan on visiting some of the great landmarks and museums that NYC has to offer.

Great opportunities require great preparation and must be earned- a life lesson we try hard to instill in our program. Our goal for fundraising for this trip is 15,000 dollars. Our major fundraiser will be a 12-hour basketball marathon called “100 Quarters of Hope”. The date for the event is Friday July 10th, 2009. We are asking for support in the form of sponsoring each player for each quarter they play in the event. We hope to not only underwrite our trip this way, but to enable the team to make a sizable donation to our local children’s hospital as part of our effort to gain awareness for pediatric cancer.

We would love for you to be a part of our effort. Please use the enclosed form to make your donation. Together, we can continue to build our program and provide our students with some of the best experiences they will ever have.

Thanks so much for being part of our basketball program. We hope to see you at our marathon and at a game this upcoming year!

Sincerely,

Jeff DiBattisto

Calling all BE Basketball Family and Alumni

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

I hope this note finds all of you well! Our 2009-10 Varsity Boys Basketball team has been presented with a unique opportunity next season and I am writing to call on all of our BE Basketball family to help ensure this is a great opportunity for our team. We have been invited to play a game in Madison Square Garden next season as part of the Coaches vs. Cancer college basketball tournament. North Carolina, Ohio State, Cal, and Syracuse are scheduled to compete. We will play a game before one of these games against Ridge View High School out of Columbia.  In addition to the basketball activities, we will complete works of service at a local hospital. I am asking for any help in securing donations OR any leads for sponsorship for this trip and this will be our ONLY fundraising operation for this year. Finally, at our “100 Quarters of Hope” Basketball Marathon, we would love to have as many BE basketball Alumni groups participate as possible. If you played at BE and you want to enter a team, just let me know. The marathon will be Fri. July 10th from 12 noon till 12 midnight!  Thanks again and we hope to see all of you soon!!

Please pass this along to any other BE basketball alumni!!
